A Bit About Me
Hi, I’m Ladina Whitehead – a versatile dancer, choreographer, and performer with a deep passion for movement and storytelling. Dance has always been more than an art form for me; it’s a way to connect with the world, spark conversations and inspire others.
Born and raised in Basel, I began my journey with a foundational training in stage dance at the Zurich Dance-Theater School (ZTTS) and earned my bilingual high school diploma (German/English) in 2018. In February 2024, I completed my Bachelor of Arts in Urban and Contemporary Dance at Tanzwerk 101 in Zurich, a transformative period that shaped my identity as an artist.
I thrive in the fusion of diverse dance styles, from the raw energy of Hip-Hop and Popping to the fluidity of Contemporary and House. This versatility has opened doors to stages across the globe, allowing me to perform at esteemed cultural institutions such as the MUDAM Museum of Modern Art in Luxembourg, Moderna Museet in Malmö, and Belvedere21 in Austria. One highlight of my career was performing in the award-winning production Trying to Empty the Sea with a Fork by Monster Chetwynd.
Beyond performing, I embrace improvisation as a powerful form of self-expression. In 2024, I was honored to place second in the Experimental Battle at the Spring Messe in Basel, where I showcased my technical precision and creative spontaneity.
Collaborations with renowned choreographers like Paula Lansley, Jochen Heckmann, and Luca Signoretti have enriched my artistic repertoire, pushing me to explore new dimensions in my craft.
Choreography is another integral part of my artistic journey. In February 2025, I will debut my first work-in-progress piece at Tanzhaus Zurich’s SHOW-OFF program, a platform celebrating emerging choreographic voices. This marks an exciting chapter in my journey, where I hope to continue exploring movement as a language of connection and innovation.
Whether performing at international festivals, art galleries, or theater stages, my aim is always the same: to inspire, challenge and move audiences. Dance is my way of sharing stories, creating change and celebrating the beauty of human expression.
Thank you for being a part of my journey. I look forward to connecting with you through the language of dance.
